Book Orchard
This is a
blurbs of one great, Malay gentleman. His full name is Mokhtar bin Yusof. He is
60 years old. He was working in the government’s sector and now,he is having
his pension. Before the retirement, he worked as a headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan
Undang. He took 20 years to master English Language.
Cikgu Mokhtar was born and raised in
Muar, Johor. He was having his early education in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan
Tengku Mahkota. Then, he proceeded with Institusi Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Temenggung
Ibrahim, Larkin and one year in language institute in Kuala Lumpur right after
finishing IPG. He has eight children; five of them are working, the other two
are studying at Universiti Tenaga Nasional Berhad (Uniten) and Universiti Utara
Malaysia (UUM), and the youngest is in standard three.
Cikgu Mokhtar has wife named Zaleha
binti Haji Tukirin. Next, his hobbies are reading, collecting and guarding
book. In 1972 when he was inform Five, he joined an international book fair. He
was participating in a reading programme where then he received the prizes of
three Malay novels.
Once, Cikgu Mokhtar did a part time
job as an assistant in a bookstore. He was dealing with the employer to
consider books as a replacement for his salary. Rather tha having money, he
prefer to have books. His actual was to be a lawyer and the irony of it is
currently, one of his son is studying in law.
The question is why is he staying in Terengganu
Darul Iman? Actually, his parents were staying in Terengganu. After that, his
dad went to Johor to search for a better job opportunities. In the year of
1993, Cikgu Mokhtar came back to Terengganu as a teacher. His father once told
him,
“One day,
you should come back to Terengganu.”
Last but not least, his birthday is
on 29 November.
